Hi, Abbie--

We have a long history of teacher workshops, both on and offsite, at our museum. We give certificates to participants stating that the teacher completed a workshop on [blank] topic that lasted 2.5 hours, dated and signed by the teacher programs coordinator and printed on museum letterhead. You may want to check with the school districts that you plan to serve to see what they require.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Creating Professional Development Workshops for NY Teachers

I am a Cooperstown Graduate Program student and I'm working on a project to create professional development workshops for local teachers within a museum setting. Does anyone have any suggestions for websites that explain the certification process for teacher training workshops? How do I ensure that the teacher's receive credit for their "in-service contact hours?" I'd be incredibly grateful to hear any suggestions from museums that have already established such programs. Thanks in advance!

Sincerely,

Abbie Wilson
