We used cotton braided rugs which we washed/cleaned ourselves.  There are
also local
suppliers in your area who will rent out professional runners, pick up and
replace them when soiled.   Cost though may be an issue, so maybe look into
purchasing them.  But then you need the washing machine/dryer to keep them
clean.  So both has disadvantages and well as
good points.
