Life would be simpler if we could avoid controversies & politics, and just
"do good science". But good science itself has always been controversial and
political.

The conscious effort of museums to open their doors to larger audiences,
including those not traditionally served, means that a wider range of
opinions are coming through our gates. Museums are players in a larger
society cannot ignore controversy -- IMHO, that would prove irresponsible
and not serve our cause, because to ignore the prickly issues means leaving
out a lot of valuable information.
