Susan:
One of the better sources I've found for various types of lighting is
Outwater Plastics (http://www.outwater.com/outwater.html). They carry
Halogen, "rope lights", track lights and most other types. Ask for their
free catalog and keep it on hand for the great variety of highly useful
exhibit related goodies they have. Outwater also freely gives sample
packages of many items.

Ed's suggestion of fibre-optic lighting is an excellent one, particularly
since the light source can be filtered against UV and the light is quite
cool. On the halogen side, you would want to replace the halogen bulbs with
Xenon to dramatically reduce the heat given off, and use filters over them
as well.

Colleagues,

In a related question, we are in the process of having an exhibit case
constructed. It is set into the wall and we're having some difficulty
finding a lighting system that is flexible and cool. Everything we've
looked at thus far generates so much heat. Has anyone any suggestions?

Thank you
Susan
