PROJECT CONSERVATOR (FINE AND DECORATIVE ARTS COLLECTION) RANGER'S HOUSE

Temporary Post for 15 months.

Closing date: 25 February 2000
Pay : GBP  14,421  p.a. 
Interview date: 14/15 March 2000

This post represents an exiting opportunity to be involved in the conservation and display of a fine and decorative arts collection in Ranger's House. You will be mainly based at a store located in South London.

The postholder will assist with all aspects of the conservation, management and installation of the collection. You will assist with implementing the conservation programme, carrying out surface cleaning and minor surface treatment to objects, as well as assisting with all aspects of tendering; budgetary requirements for the conservation and management of the collection; participating in project meetings and liasing with other relevant English Heritage staff.

You should possesss a recognised qualification in Conservation, with at least two year's post-qualification experience in the historic house or museum field. Preventive conservation and collections management experience is desirable. You should be well organised, with the ability both to work as part of a team and to be a self-starter, able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Excellent communication skills are also required.

Temporary Post for 1 year.

Pay : GBP 12,528  p.a.

Osborne House is currently undergoing a major redecoration project including the redisplay of the Indian collection in the Durbar Room. This is an exiting opportunity for a conservator to provide collections conservation support to the project team, based at Osborne House (East Cowes, Isle of Wight).

The postholder will assist with all aspects of the conservation, management and installation of the collection. You will assist with implementing the conservation programme, carrying out surface cleaning and minor surface treatment to objects, as well as assisting with all aspects of tendering; budgetary requirements for the conservation and management of the collection; participating in project meetings and liasing with other relevant English Heritage staff.
