If you have not already, definitely check out Mystic Seaport Museum
(http://www.mysticseaport.org/), arguably the nation's leading martime
museum.  Located in Mystic Seaport, CT, the museum has hundreds of
historical and replica vessels, a vast collection of martime-related
artifacts, and outstanding educational programs, including a summer
liveaboard program on the schooner Brilliant for young adults.  I know that
scholarships/tuition assistance are/is available for many of their fee-based
programs.

If you have the chance to head out to Mystic, it's certainly worth the trip
and the perfect time of year!

Hello all!!

I have recently started volunteering with the National Maritime History
Foundation that is seeking to build a replica of the historic schooner, the
USS Enterprise. I'm helping them with making connections within the museum
community and with their educational programs.

First off, there is a national or international organization for historic
tall ships, maritime museums or other types of navy museums?

Secondly, any good sources for grants aimed specifically at maritime
history, working with under-represented populations, or inner city schools?
The school programs for the organization are going to start at in the DC
public school system in SE.

Lastly, any good advice about getting a tall ship built and creating a
museum/educational experience around it?
