The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts created a number of art-mobile
tractor-trailers in the 1930s and continued to use them throughout the
state at least until the 1950s.  I suggest contacting them (in Richmond,
Virginia) for information.

There have also been exhibition trains--although I can't recall titles
this minute, I suspect others on the list may do so.

And yes, I'd like to have some sort of summary of your findings!
