The Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art at Kansas State University seesk
applications for registrar/collections manager.  Responsibilities include
general management of the Museum's collection of approx. 2000 pieces,
traveling and rental exhibitions, and collections management system
(SNAP), including cataloging and documentation of the collection.
Individual needs to be current on museum procedures and practices,
familiarity with 20th Century American painting and printmaking a plus.
At least three years professional experience as museum registrar required.
Qualified candidate will have a B.A. in art history, museum studies, or
related field, M.A. perferred.  Applications review begins April 12, 1999,
applications accepted until position is filled.
Salary commensurate with experience, good health and retirement benefits.

The Beach Museum of Art opened in the fall of 1996 and houses Kansas State
collection of 20th Century American art, with an emphasis on regionalism.
Highlights of the collection include a fine collection of American
printmakers, works by Kansas artists John Steuart Curry and Gordon Parks,
and recent donation of contemporary regional artists totaling about 250
pieces per year.  The Museum also hosts several traveling exhibitions each
year, curates special exhibitions and maintains loan exhibitions.
