Position Announcement: ASSISTANT REGISTRAR

The Morris Museum of Art, in Augusta, Georgia, is a cultural facility which
collects, preserves, researches, exhibits, and interprets American works of
art focusing upon, but not limited to, the American South. The museum's
permanent collection consists of over 2600 works of art, primarily
paintings, ranging from the late 18th century to contemporary. Visit

The Morris Museum seeks an Assistant Registrar to aid in all aspects of
registration including care of permanent collection and handling of
incoming/outgoing loans and exhibitions. Some specific duties will include
accessioning, coordinating shipping arrangements, performing condition
reports, and assisting in preparation/production of exhibition text and
catalogs. The Assistant Registrar will be responsible for photographic
services, including maintaining the photo library, scheduling permanent
collection/exhibition photography, and handling requests for images.
Position requires B.A. in museum studies, art history, history, or related
field; proficiency in word processing; and superior written, verbal, and
organizational skills. Museum experience and knowledge of general database
or computerized collection management system preferred. Health insurance
