I respectfully disagree.  Some of us have the responsibility of making sure
certain announcements (calls for papers, etc.) are posted to all the
relevant lists.  I *do* have time to do that, because it's important.  A
successful conference can depend on good communication.  That's one of the
reasons the professional listservs exist, I think.

Hoping for random volunteer forwarding does not seem to me to be a good
substitute.  If you've seen a message before, or aren't interested, delete
it.  If you get too much irrelevant mail, sign off of the lists that don't
send much of value your way.  My opinion only, best wishes to all.
