Duties

The Executive Director provides vision, leadership and advocacy for the
Collaborative Digitization Program, (the overall organization most
visibly represented by the Colorado Digitization Program) a highly
collaborative organization based in the Rocky Mountain West that
provides digitization infrastructure to libraries, museums, historical
societies, and archives. Infrastructure includes hardware, software,
training, consulting, standards and best practices, and tools enabling
standards compliance. Through digitization, the CDP enables access to
cultural, historical and scientific heritage collections, thereby
increasing understanding of the past and informing future generations.
More about the CDP can be found at http://www.cdpheritage.org. The CDP
is a 501c3 organization with a governing board, and is also closely
affiliated with the University of Denver's Penrose Library. The
Executive Director works under the day to day direction of the Dean and
Director of the University of Denver Penrose Library operating under the
general guidance and policies of the CDP Board of Directors.

Qualifications

The ideal Executive Director would bring these qualifications:
Demonstrated leadership experience in a collaborative environment,
preferably in libraries and museums, but with grounding in cultural
heritage organizations. Experience in management of large and complex
projects. Extensive knowledge of digital asset management standards and
best practices, including those related to scanning, metadata, encoding,
archiving, rights, access, software, etc. Experience in preparing
successful grant applications. Supervisory experience. Strong
communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to inspire
others on the value of cultural heritage resources. Excellent
interpersonal skills. Graduate degree appropriate for libraries or
museums, such as MLS, Archival Management, or Museum Studies.
