Rick W in Texas asked about fireproofing cotton a little while ago.The Fire
Service here gave me this recipe once (so I can't vouch for its health
implications or its effects on collection items),but here goes:
 
85 gms boric acid
198 gms borax (sodium tetraborate)
2 litres of water
 
mix well and soak articles
 
or
 
425 gms boric acid
283 gms sodium phosphate
4.5 l water
 
mix well and paint on.      .....I hope that's still relevant.Cheers .Kate
