Greta, The best way to get into a school district is to get some teachers on board. Then work your way up. The Northfield Historical Society has many great programs that work with the local school district, in fact the school district even funds some of the projects. We actually just produced a book with one of our programs. The book took 4 years and was written by 8th graders! It is a great book. Here is the link to the book http://northfieldhistory.org/book/caught-storm If you want to know more you can contact me off list. My email is [log in to unmask] or call me 507-645-9268

Cheers!

For our school programming, we also have cultivated a relationship with the Social Studies Coordinator at the local school district. After she "bought in" to us and our educational programming, she strongly encouraged the teachers to include us in their field trip plans--and they did!

For our family programming, we periodically send flyers to selected grades featuring our upcoming events. Always go through the appropriate channels at the District, following their rules. We would love to somehow get included in the District's email newsletters that go out directly to parents.

The High Desert Museum is wondering if anyone has innovative ways to market education programs to schools. Our District is protective, of course, of teachers, so that geeting information easily to teachers is difficult. Do any of you have creative ways that you manage this challenge?

Thank you,
