Dear Museum-L Colleagues:
I have compiled a list of homepages of Japanese museums, all opened last year.
Mind you, not all of them are written bilingual, so perhaps you need a dictio
nary or a Japanese friend at your hand! New findings shall follow in the Museu
m-L.

National Museum of Ethnology, Osaka

National Museum of Japanese History, Chiba

Katusushika Museum of Local History, Tokyo

Hyogo Pretectural Museum of Natural History, Himeji

Yokohama Art Museum, Yokohama

Tokugawa Art Museum, Nagoya

Tabacco and Grass Museum, Tokyo

Mito Art Center, Mito

Yokogawa Measurement Instruments Inc.'s Virtual Museum
http://www.yokogawa.co.jp
Toshiba Science Museum, Kawasaki (Toshiba Corp.)
http://www.toshiba.co.jp

Yokogawa Inc. are supposed to open their corporate museum in their head office
s in Mitaka, Tokyo some years ahead, but exact year has not been decided yet.
However, they have opened their homepage on their parent company's site on the
web and exhibiting their real collections of sophisticated measurement device
s. They have around 4,000 devices, which include gifts from the GE and the Smi
thsonian. Amazingly, our homepages of museums have just started last year and
it is becoming a boom now. As you can see, if you dare to open, they are still
in their early years. Do cannot expect the same design quality which you find
in those Sony things in your high street shops.

Anyway Yours Truly will catch up the wave for you.
