I was standing in one of the rooms that we have uncovered in our excavation of
the San Diego Presidio. The walls are still standing at a height of about 3 to
4 feet. A tourist looked through the fence and asked, "Why did they build such
short walls?"

Least favorite question asked at the dig in Tucson, Arizona: "Find any gold
yet?"
