The USS Constellation Museum
Position Announcement
Interpretation-Education Coordinator

The USS Constellation Museum, located in Baltimore, Maryland, is pleased to
offer, to qualified candidates, the opportunity to apply for the position of
Interpretation Coordinator. The Interpretation Coordinator position is a
challenging position combining duties usually performed by more than one
individual in a larger institution. These include, but are not limited to,
providing frequent public presentations in a variety of programs aboard ship
about subjects associated with USS Constellation and her century of service.
Representing the Museum and its programs, the Interpretation Coordinator
also attends off-site activities as a spokesperson for museum interpretive and
education programs. As the senior member of the Museum’s interpretive staff,
the Interpretation Coordinator oversees all aspects relative to Ship’s Crew,
including its conduct, performance, appearance, and welfare. Among these
oversights are ensuring high standards of staff conduct and proficiency and
maintaining an effective staff training and evaluation program. The
Interpretation Coordinator provides timely and accurate departmental
administration and submission of reports and responses to inquiries. The
Interpretation Coordinator cooperates and coordinates with departmental
directors to ensure timely scheduling and adequate coverage for all events
and programs and smooth day-to-day operations. Overall, premiums are
placed on the Interpretation Coordinator’s verbal and written communication
skills, leadership ability, administrative acuity, cooperative spirit, and can-do
attitude. Applicants must be at least 23 years of age, have at least three
years of formal college coursework leading toward a bachelor’s degree, and
have three years experience in museum or related operations or in a position
of organizational leadership. Please send resume’ and cover letter to:
