Well I am a Curator of 19 years standing who fits the underpaid description
at least. I'm astounded that there were no responses, apologies, hear-hears,
you-go-girls, or anything else in response to Indigo Nights' plainly spoken,
intelligent and thorough mauling of the unpretty aspects of this profession.
When I began reading this list, I found her suggestions and humor
enlightening, her references and links extremely helpful, and her well
rounded knowledge quite impressive, and I looked (and look) forward to her
posts. I would further add that I don't understand what has happened to
self-directed responsibility on the list. Your choice is to read or not
read, that's what the delete key is for. Many of us have little interest in
the ID discussion, so it doesn't take up our time or disk space. Some of the
comments were extremely well put, some were quite dismissable in my humble
opinion. But none of them needed to rage out at a contributor. Put this
museum list and your job in perspective-- we may hate the idea, but the
world can feed, clothe, house and care for its people without one single
museum. There are a few things happening in the world right now that deserve
your rage and action. Expressing opinions is not one of them.

We all need to take a walk on the beach once in a while.
