Capital Campaign Director
Hook's American Drug Store Museum, Indianapolis, Indiana

Hook's American Drugstore Museum will be the nation's first comprehensive
museum with a mission to document, interpret and celebrate the 400 year
history of community pharmacy in America, and to provide an ever-evolving
picture of modern pharmacy, medicine, and public health. We seek to
stimulate and nurture an awareness and interest in personal healthcare and
basic human health sciences. The Museum will also tell the story of the
development of medicine from the earliest recorded practices of gathering
roots and herbs from the land to the life saving wonder drugs and
technologies of modern times. The Museum will help to bring alive the past,
showcase the present, and present views of the future of pharmacy, medicine,
and health fields.

The Museum, a small facility located at the Indiana state fairgrounds for
the past 35 years, is expanding with a new mission to a 65,000 square foot
two-building facility purchased in the historic district (listed on the
National Register of Historic Places) in downtown Indianapolis, the nation's
crossroads. This highly visible location on a corner of Indianapolis' main
arterial is superb for attracting large audiences, and is conveniently
located within not more than two blocks of the convention center, a major
urban mall, the Conseco and RCA Sports arenas. Major gifts were secured to
purchase the buildings and perform restoration to the building exteriors.
The next phase of the project is to renovate the interiors converting them
from 19th century warehouses to 21st century museum space. Exhibit design
and construction will occur in parallel with the renovation. The American
Drugstore Museum is an exciting health and history education project
intended to be national in scope.

We seek a development professional with a track record of increasingly
successful development projects, and capital campaign leadership. Of
special interest to the Search Committee will be the candidate's record of
securing significant gifts. The successful candidate will have an outgoing
personality, assertive business manner, a history of timely follow through
on commitments.

Ability to work effectively and willingly as a team member, good supervisory
and staff coaching skills, and a strong sense of diplomacy. Highly
developed verbal and written communication skills are required. Ability to
handle and maintain confidentiality of information and records. Experience
with basic office environment tools such as desktop computers, copiers, etc.

If you would like further information or to apply please contact me as soon
as possible via email, phone or fax.
