Steam heat can set in dust...spitting of the steamer can
spot. If you are willing to set up a 'dummy situation' and
practice, you will have a better idea if this is feasible or
not. MBallard, Sr Textiles Conservator, SCMRE

Need guidance on removing wrinkles from two 1920's era silk
dresses for
display.

One dress is entirely silk and the other has a silk bodice
and sash and
velvet skirt.

Can dresses be steamed while they are mounted on ethafoam
forms?

Any help or direction would be appreciated.
