At the University of Buckingham our next Masters degree in Heritage Tourism
Management starts in January 2001.

What we offer:

This unique one-year, four term course deals with visitor access management.

The taught element of the course is spread over terms 1 & 2, and will be
based on the following:

Term 1, an introduction to heritage and tourism
Term 2, a study of management and commercial issues

You will also study the conflict between access and conservation, as well
as finance and marketing, sources of funding and legal issues.

During term 3 you will be placed alongside the experts in the heritage
tourism sector for a period of up to nine weeks. These attachments may be
available in the UK, Europe and the USA.

After this, in term 4, you write a supervised dissertation.

During the course you should also meet people who work in both heritage and
tourism at the highest levels, and we visit some major heritage tourism
establishments.

What we expect of you:

Each application will be judged on its merits, but the normal entrance
requirements for postgraduate study are a good honours degree or its
equivalent in work experience.

Your degree programme will extend over four terms. Full-time students will
be expected to complete their studies in one year. Part-time students will
be able to extend their studies over two.

You will be required to attend the University for up to two days each week
during terms 1,2 & 4

Each term must be completed as a unit and cannot be split.

A mix of continuous assessment, examination and dissertation will measure
your progress.

Members of the department and visiting experts will teach the course
Bursaries may be available to applicants.
