I've worked with a number of uniform-type dress codes:

1) a university museum that purchased a number of different-sized
neutral-gray blazers from a uniform supply house, plus had "staff" badges,
that had to be worn by people working out in the galleries or public areas
for extended periods of time (didn't have to wear them if you were just
passing through)--the museum had them stored in a central location and had
them cleaned regularly

2) laminated nametags with the logo and staff name/title on them that had to
be worn at all times, everywhere

3) a dress code for casual public occasions of khaki pants or shorts with a
logo/name embroidered polo shirt (given to staff to maintain on their own)

4) a dress code of "nothing that you'd wear to clean your bathroom in on
Saturday morning", which left a lot of leeway

Of these, the nametag in combination with a stated dress code of
"professional and appropriate to your position" was generally most
effective. The blazers did not go over very well and mostly ended up being
used by the student guards.
