I'm looking for advice from any REGISTRARS working in ART museums:

I'm in the process of applying to graduate schools this fall with the
eventual career goal of working as an art museum registrar/collections
manager. I'm applying to various graduate programs in Art History and/or
Museum Studies.(There are programs which offer these studies both
individually and in combination).

My question is whether people working in the field today show a
preference for the Museum Studies M.A. over the Art History M.A. or vice
versa. I've also been encouraged to look into Library Science programs
as another possible _in_ to registrarial work. I realize a combination
of skills from all of these studies is encouraged, but since I'm fairly
narrow in the direction of my goals,I wanted to put out feelers among
those in this specific field to detect any decided preferences.

I'd also appreciate any additional (related or unrelated) words of
wisdom from anyone working in Art Museums to one who hopes to join your
ranks.

Thanks for any help,
