The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is seeking qualified applicants for the
following position:

JOB TITLE:
CHIEF PREPARATOR/INSTALLATION

JOB DUTIES:                     To oversee art handling and exhibit installation, both
permanent and temporary, and to ensure safe environments for the display
of works of art.  Responsibilities include administering a department of
assistant preparators, mount maker and lighting specialist, preparing a
budget, working in close collaboration with other departments, vendors
and designers, and hands-on involvement in the completion of projects.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:               Minimum of five years experience in a
museum of comparable size, with an additional two years supervisory
experience; experience in the installation and deinstallation of large
outdoor sculpture; ability to use a variety of mechanical equipment;
good technical problem solving skills; strong communication skills and
the ability to juggle priorities to meet deadlines.  A B.A. degree in
fine arts, art history, or a related field is preferred.
