I agree with Maggie.  After working for many years with a fundraising
consulting firm, we were always compensated by fees quoted in advance and
not on a percentage basis.  This way, expectations on compensation were
clear before service began.  You may want to check out the Code of Ethics
and Standards of Professional Practice established by the Association of
Fundraising Professionals - www.afpnet.org.
