Job Opening -- Preparator -- The Anderson Collection, Menlo Park, CA

PREPARATOR POSITION, PART-TIME

The Anderson Collection seeks a responsible individual to install artwork
2 - 3 days a week, for
an outstanding private collection of twentieth-century American paintings,
sculpture, and works
on paper.  More than two-thirds of the collection, which presently includes
over 800 works, is on
display at the Quadrus office complex in Menlo Park, California.

Job responsibilities revolve around excellence in the care/custody/control
of the artwork.
Duties include: installation/de-installation of revolving collection, proper
maintenance of the art,
overseeing conservation work, shipping preparation, minor framing, minor
conservation,
maintaining proper paper work to track location of art work, coordinating
work with Quadrus
maintenance personnel, preparing for de-installation of 350 works for major
exhibition in
October, 2000.

Qualifications:  experience with the care and handling of fine art as well
as familiarity with a
broad range of installation techniques and hardware.  Prior employment as a
preparator helpful.

The Anderson Collection employs a small, mostly part-time staff. Flexibility
and an interest in
all activities of running an art collection are necessary qualifications for
the position. Excellent
communication and inter-personal skills are fundamental to the functioning
of this small office.


Wage will be $14 - $16 / hour based on experience, for working 14 - 20 hours
a week.
