What professional organizations should I join?<<<<

That depends a lot on what kind of museum work you do.  First, are you in an
art, history, or natural history museum, science center, historic house,
whatever?  Second, are you a curator, administrator, sub-curatorial worker,
support (clerical, financial, etc.) staff person, front-line person, or
what?

I can't think of any organization that would be of use to all kinds of staff
in all kinds of museums.
