I've spent countless hours in museums following groups of visitors
through museum exhibitions, and observing museum behavior--as part of
the Museum Learning Collaborative study--the amazing thing that I've
noticed, is that even people--people recruited to be in our
study--wearing cordless microphones --would STILL touch museum
objects. And often they would read the do not touch signs while doing
it! I guess it's just human nature. The flexible alarm barriers seem
to help a lot but if you really really don't want people to
touch--put it in a case.
