I've been writing a paper which will, at some point, magically
turn into my master's thesis, about digital images and copyright.
An interesting book on the subject is "Cultural Rights: Technology,
Legality and Personality" by Celia Lury (London: Routledge). Lots
of deconstruction and feminist theory, which are fascinating but
of little use to me at this point as I plow through the IITF
Draft Report.
 
Also an article by Martha Buskirk, "Commodification as Censor:
Copyrights and Fair Use" (October 60, Spring 1992, 83-109).
 
I've come to the conclusion that the government is going to
take away our natural born right to browse online
 
and
 
Art museums should lead the way in making images of their
collections available online with documentation attached or
embedded but with no other restrictions whatsoever as to how
they are used, even commercially.
