Hi,

I am writing to ask about discussion groups that artists may go to browse or
visit. We are looking for artists across the country to participate in our new
exhibit "MARRIAGE, HOME & FAMILY" in November. Each Artist will take part in
the piece which will be a collection of works hung together to create a "quilt"
and each panel will represent an individual artist's ideas of marriage and
family.

Thanks a lot!

Sincerely,
Jen-Li Ko

MARRIAGE, HOME & FAMILY Call for Artists

November 17th - December 15th
Opening Reception, November 17th 5-8pm

In a political and social atmosphere boiling over with a mixture of religious
convictions and civil rights legislation, the issue of what constitutes
marriage and family is very relevant to contemporary discourse. Within that
realm of marriage and family lies the home, the private space that is created
around the grouping of individuals and their beliefs. Also the idea of the
home is of high interest to our society where it takes form in television shows
and magazine articles showcasing to the public how to facilitate the right
atmosphere of the home. It is with these issues in mind that the Union Art
Gallery places a call for artists to participate in a dialog that is very
pertinent to our times and society.

This exhibition will feature work that deals with these issues. The medium is
open however the format must be submitted as a 2’ x 2’ square. This square
could be a painting, a photograph, a collage, a textile piece. It could come
off the wall and drape to the floor or have 3 dimensional objects protruding
from it. The only stipulation is that the base of the piece must be able to
hang on the wall and be a 2’ x 2’ square. When all work is submitted, these
squares will be placed together to form a giant quilt on the walls of the
gallery.

Additionally, the gallery is taking proposals for installation pieces to be
created in the four alcoves. These installations should also address this
topic as a more investigated and conclusive aspect to this theme. If
interested in exhibiting installation work in one of these four spaces, please
submit a proposal with images or sketches. Four will be selected by the
curator for exhibition.

Please see attached timeline for deadlines and dates.

If submitting a 2’ x 2’ square please mail it to:
UWM Union
Union Art Gallery
Attn: Andrea Skyberg, Gallery Manager
2200 E. Kenwood Blvd.

The work needs to arrive in the Union Art Gallery no later than November 10th,
