UNIVERSITY OF MAINE MUSEUM OF ART
 
The University of Maine Museum of Art invites
applications for the position of
Director/Curator.  The Museum is an integral
component of the academic and cultural
programs of the University of Maine, The Land
and Sea Grant Campus of the State of Maine.
In this capacity the Museum functions as an
academic unit in the University System and as
a cultural venue for the state as a whole.
The Museum's permanent collection contains
5,000 objects with particular strengths in
20th century prints and American Art of the
19th and 20th centuries.  Administrative
position reporting to the Dean of Cultural
Affairs.  Fiscal appointment, starting at
earliest convenience, salary commensurate with
experience.  Responsibilities include:
supervision of museum operations, management
of operating budget, development of long range
planning, supervision of museum personnel,
fundraising and grant writing.  Oversee
management and care of permanent collection;
curation, development and implementation of
exhibition program, developing educational
programming for the University and community.
Limited teaching in area of specialization
with adjunct faculty status in the Department
of Art.
 
Qualifications:  MA in arts related field or
Museum Studies, Ph.D. preferred, three years
experience in museum management, demonstrated
knowledge of exhibition programming design and
administration.  Excellent oral and written
communication skills.  Send resume and
