AH ha! Welcome to the world of preservation/public
history! Museums are certainly part of that, but
historic sites are a bit different. Is this a private
site? Is it governement owned? Politics are tough to
deal with. I would find out what your statewide
non-profit preservation organization is (I can tell
you if you want) and get in contact with them. They
can fill you in on all the preservation lingo, give
you contacts, let you in on how to deal with some of
the politics and teach you a bit about that admin
stuff. (there are alot of forms aren't there?)

Myself I prefer the admin/politics over the collection
stuff, although I do love interpretation. Really
running one of these things is wrapped up in paperwork
and networking with the right person. Understanding
grants and the like is about what its all about. I
would really get in contact with your statewide
preservation organization because they will have the
contacts to the Enviromental people, the building
people, and the political people. Let me know if you
would like a contact name for your state.

Aaron
