Hello there everyone,

I recently read an article:

"Opinion: Philippe de Montebello asks, what is a museum for? "The work of art is the event".

This was printed in 'The Art Newspaper' No. 70 May 1997 pp 28-29.
It was reprinted from the College Art Association News, March/April 1997.

I found this article very thoughtful and thought provoking, and was wondering if any 'museum-lers' had read the piece and had any responses to share?

The writer articulates with a quiet confidence what he believes is the mission of the museum - which is caught in the by-line.
