Fixed Term Position
Facilities Technician

The mission of The Tech Museum of Innovation is to serve as an educational
resource that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and
experiencing technologies affecting their lives, and to inspire young
people to become innovators in developing technologies of the future.

Job Summary
The Facilities Technician is responsible for providing swing shift facility
support for the museum.  Primary emphasis is on delivering facility
services in a professional, competent, timely and courteous fashion, while
ensuring safety and security.  The Facilities Technician is a full-time,
non-exempt position reporting to the Facilities Manager. The position will
end December 31, 1999.

Responsibilities:
-Perform general preventative facilities maintenance, troubleshooting and
repairs.
-Perform housekeeping as directed by supervisor.
-Coordinate and perform facilities functions with custodial, security and
specialty contractors.
-Coordinate facilities portion of special events with caterers, planners,
and etc.
-Respond to safety and emergency situations for Facilities Services and
maintain a safe and secure work environment.
-Assist with maintenance of loading dock and warehouse including forklift
operation;  load and unload trucks.
-Assist with space relocations.
-Maintain excellent working and collaborative relationships with colleagues
and other departments.
-Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
+2 years of experience in facilities including experience with HVAC,
lighting, alarms and life safety systems.
Excellent communication skills.
Customer-service oriented, dependable and flexible, willingness to meet the
museum's needs.
Computer literate.
Able to prioritize and handle multiple demands during busy times.
Valid California Drivers License.
Ability to safely lift up to 75 pounds repeatedly.
Ability to lift and handle heavy and/or awkward objects, climb ladders,
reach overhead.
Ability to climb stairs, walk, stand, stretch, bend, turn.

HOURS:  3 p.m. to 12:00 pm (midnight), Tuesday through Saturday
