The Historical Society of Rockland County is offering
three graduate-level internships for Summer 2000.  The
internships will allow the interns to explore working
in the museum field through intensive, hands-on
experience.  Stipend and housing are included as part
of the internship program.

1.  Education Intern -- The education intern will work
with the Curator of Education on several different
projects.  The intern will complete an interpretive
notebook for the site's 1832 Dutch farmhouse.  Other
projects will include evaluation/modification of the
Historical Society's current school programs, assist
with Summerweek, (a two week program for children ages
7-11), give guided tours of the 1832 Dutch farm house,
and development of an interpretive plan for a Native
American Longhouse that is proposed to be built on
site.

2.  Curatorial Intern -- The curatorial intern will
work with the Curator.  The main focus of the
internship will be a major collections project
involving inventory, cataloguing, and rehousing
artifacts.  The intern will assist the Curator in
reorganize the museum's shelving to make better use of
the storage space.  The intern will use COLLECTIONS by
Vernon systems, a state of the art collections
management program.  The intern will also assist with
hand-on exhibition installation and research.

3.  Administrative Intern -- The intern will work with
the Executive Director and the Director of Public
Affairs on various marketing and administrative
projects, including marketing strategies, press
releases, special events, and other projects.

The internships begin June 5 and run through August
15.  Candidates must be available for interviews in
March.
