Dear Margaret et al.:

We've recently acquired a Nikon Coolpix 950 for collections use, and I'm
still in the first throes of being in love with it. I'm sure that will wear
off in time, but so far I'm happy. I've just finished (moments ago)
e-mailing 66 images to a tribal NAGPRA office for their perusal. It had to
be done in little batches because of the amount of loadtime involved, but it
still was a saving in time & money for both of us. I've saved the images to
a zipdisk for our future use.

Two things I found right off--get a wide-angle lens (about $200), & a
memory-card reader ($30) to attach to your computer. The latter saves on
battery time. Also, a battery recharger will save you money & aggravation
in the long run.

Subject: digital cameras

Dear listers:

I have been happily researching digital cameras to find one best suited for
our use: good color images of museum objects (including paintings), for
attaching to database records as well as for posting to our web site.
While I know there are lots of digital-camera specific sites and discussion
groups, I really appreciate the opinions of the folks on this Museum list
-- so does anyone have any particular favorite digital cameras that are
great for object photography? Any horror stories? Thanks, as always, for
your input and support,

Margaret Tamulonis
