Hi Mary,
We use number of artifacts accessioned and cataloged, number of artifacts 
added to the database and number of artifacts borrowed that are condition 
reported and photographed.  We also count number of artifacts loaned out 
that have been condition reported and photographed and number of research 
requests accommodated that utilize the collection.  You could also count 
the number of artifacts that have been processed during installation and 
deinstallation of exhibits.  Hope this helps.
