The Riverside County Economic Development Agency has an exciting opening in Cherry Valley, CA for a Museum Assistant. 

Qualified candidates must possess three years of progressively responsible museum and/or library administrative experience. 

This position will assist the Museum Director in supervising and directing the activities of the County Museum and with many other projects.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 
Research and propose various exhibits and special events to the selection committee. Coordinate and schedule the exhibits and special events for the Rave Gallery and grounds of the Museum. Conceptualize, produce and change designs for all temporary and permanent exhibits; Research and confer with Museum Management, Curator, and professional colleagues as necessary for exhibit preparation, including security and conservation practices. Schedule and supervise all aspects of installation and/or uninstallation of temporary and permanent exhibits; Communicate and coordinate with exhibit production companies, rental institutions, shipping companies, artist, community groups, etc. Coordinate with EDA Marketing Division to develop promotional strategies for various program areas. Develop and monitor exhibits, wedding and special events budget; Develop and monitor rental and exhibit installation and/or uninstallation costs for special exhibits budget. Purchase all supplies, tools, and equipment used for exhibits, weddings and special events; Contract with outside vendors as necessary. Conduct direct marketing activities targeted to existing and potential visitors. Process program registrations and reservations. Manage exhibit, wedding, and special events calendars. Develops and maintains exhibit, wedding, and special event program databases. Maintain Museum Image Library; Coordinate film production opportunities with Inland Empire Film Commission. Evaluate program content and outcomes. Provide monthly activity reports to Museum Management. Participate in long-range exhibit, wedding, and special event planning. Recruit, train, and supervise docents. Manage docent schedules; Ensure adequate coverage for exhibits, weddings, and special events. Schedule and facilitate monthly exhibits, weddings, and special event program meetings. Develop and maintain advisory groups for exhibit programming.
 
RECRUITING GUIDELINES:  
Experience: Three years of progressively responsible clerical or secretarial experience, one year of which would provide familiarity with the operation of a museum. 

Knowledge of: Modern office practices and procedures including computers; Museum administration and museum maintenance work; financial and other record-keeping procedures. 

Ability to: Prepare reports and maintain records; Maintain effective working relationships with employees and others.
