POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT


Associate Collections Curator:  Biltmore Estate seeks a full-time Associate Collections Curator.  Primary responsibilities include researching, interpreting, and documenting the 30,000 object collection and assisting with the restoration of Biltmore House's historic interiors.  Qualifications for the position are: a BA in art history, history or related field and four years experience in similar job, or an MA and two years experience in a similar job.  Must have proven research and writing skills, strong interpersonal skills, public speaking ability, and a good sense of aesthetic judgment.  Must also have experience handling museum objects and basic photography skills and experience.  Must be proficient in Microsoft computer programs and have the ability to learn specialized collections management software.   Must be able to work independently.  Prior curatorial experience in an historic house is preferred.  Physical requirements include the ability to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding; ability to lift up to 40 pounds; and excellent manual dexterity.
