The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is accepting applications for the position of Exhibit Design Coordinator. This is a full-time position located in Hollywood, CA and is expected to commence June 1, 2006.

The Exhibit Design Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the planning and establishment of the Academy Museum's core exhibition spaces, by coordinating the efforts of the Museum's exhibit design firm, the Museum Committee, Academy members, staff and outside consultants, as well as exhibit fabricators and installers. 

The Exhibit Design Coordinator must be a highly organized and personable individual with the ability to juggle a number of tasks simultaneously and deftly oversee a complex schedule of meetings, installations and design/construction projects. The successful applicant must effectively communicate visual ideas verbally and in writing, and be skilled at reading and interpreting technical designs. Strong copy-editing and proofreading skills are a must. 

The Exhibit Design Coordinator will report to the Museum Project Administrator. 
 
Required Qualifications  
§ Strong understanding of the exhibition design process and experience working with exhibit designers, curators, and fabricators. Visual design and artistic skill and experience desired. 
§ Ability to tackle complex research topics with enthusiasm and to synthesize storylines and broad themes from multiple types of source material. 
§ Knowledge of exhibit-related construction techniques and construction materials*from lighting and fabrics to video, audio, computers and other exhibition-related equipment*in order to consult outside sources and recommend items and services.  
§ Familiarity with and practice of proper techniques for handling objects involved in exhibition installations. Commitment to creating and preserving a safe environment for displayed objects at all times.  
§ Ability to read, write and speak English fluently and with excellent proficiency. 
§ Typing required at 50+ wpm. 
§ Use of personal automobile will be required; must have and maintain a valid California driver's license.

Education
Bachelor's degree in film, graphic design, fine arts or relevant field; master's degree and/or two years museum experience required. Excellent benefits. Salary commensurate with experience.
