Paid summer internship available. The National Law Enforcement Museum (www.LawEnforcementMuseum.org), a museum in development, is seeing interns to assist with processing NLEM’s archival collections.

The Archives Internship will encompass surveying, inventorying and basic rehousing, processing, and finding aid creation for various manuscript and archival collections held by the Museum, based on national cataloging standards for archival and manuscript collections. Creation of basic catalog records for inclusion in the Museum’s OPAC. 

Work may consist of one of more of the following activities:

•	Survey of manuscript and archival collections to create inventory
•	Basic processing of collections based on DACS; MPM
•	Creation of finding aid for each collection/EAD encoding of the finding aid
•	Creation of basic collection-level bibliographic/holdings records for OPAC

Candidates must be enrolled in a graduate-level Library and Information Management Services program and possess strong time management, communication, and organizational skills. Applicant must be available to 32 hours per week, May 2010 through August 2010.

Work will take place at both the main office in the Penn Quarter, Washington, DC, and at an offsite storage facility in Forestville, Maryland. The DC office is Metro accessible. Car transportation to Forestville would be helpful.
