The Center for Korean Studies at University of California -
Berkeley is launching a project to collect images of Korea.
Our goals are:

        1. to electronically collect photographic images, drawings
and maps, images of artifacts, and other records of Korea's
                political, social, and cultural history.
        2. to produce multimedia presentations focusing on:
                - Korea's diplomatic history in the last 150 years
                - Korea's cultural history in the last 5,000 years
        3. to establish an archive of electronic images and a database
of archive locations, which may be used for other projects
and which will be available for access over the Internet

If you have any collections relating to Korean history, or know
of any that does, please contact:

If replying by mail, fax, or e-mail, please include the
following information:

        - Name, Phone, and e-mail address of the contact person
                at the collection
        - Location of the collection
        - Subject focus and type of the collection

and, if possible:

        - Types of access permitted. For "flat" documents and
photographs, we will need to bring equipments to
electronically scan them in. For other objects and
artifacts, we will need to take a photograph.
        - Copyright information. We will be distributing the
multimedia products, and the images will be available
for public access electronically once collected

Even if your collection is not open to public access, or you would
not be able to permit us to use your collection, please let us know
about your collection so that we can keep the information about
your collection for others.

Thank you very much!
