A recent post on museum-l contained incorrect information with
respect to the voting records of members of the House Interior Appropriations
Subcommittee. The vote took place during this week's markup.

Representative Sidney Yate's (IL) amendment to restore level funding to
the NEA (from $10 million to $99.5 million) was defeated by a vote of 6 to 5.

Not all subcommittee members were present. In addition, Representative
David Obey (WI), Ranking Minority Member of the Full House Appropriations
Committee, was present and voted in his capacity as an "ex officio"
member of the subcommittee. The vote was as follows (+ means yea; -
means nay, np means not present):

+ Dicks, WA
- Kolbe, AZ
np McDade, PA
- Miller, FL
+ Moran, VA
np Murtha, PA
- Nethercutt, WA
+ Obey, WI (ex officio member of subcommittee)
- Regula, OH (Chairman)
+ Skaggs, CO
- Skeen, NM
np Taylor, NC
- Wamp, TN
+ Yates, IL

Note also that another Yates amendment was successful and passed by a
voice vote. The amendment eliminated language specifying that the $10
million NEA appropriation was to be used for "orderly closure" of the agency.

Lastly, while always subject to change, it appears likely that the full
House Appropriations Committee markup will be Thursday, June 26 (although
the committee says that nothing officially has been scheduled).
