Elana,

I've recently moved from KY but while there I worked with the KY Folklife
Program. The KFP is a state agency working jointly wiht the Kentucky
Historical Society and the Kentucky Arts Council. During this time, we
collaborated briefly with another state agency that worked with the Deaf
community. They produced a weekend long festival on Deaf culture. I wasn't
able to attend and I'm afraid I can't think of the woman's name who runs it
(she might be Bobbie Beth Scroggins?) but you could call my former boss and
see if he can tell you. His name is Bob Gates and his phone # is (502)
564-3016. Or, ask for Louis Joy-his assistant.

Tell Louis Joy that the Kentucky Arts Council gave this group funding for
this fiscal year. All she has to do is find the blue folder that has the
Folk Arts Panel information from the May 24th, 1996 panel, and she will be
able to find the name and contact numbers you need.

If you have trouble reaching them, ask for Kathleen Bond-she is the division
secretary and even though she won't know those people personally she is an
EXPERT at finding info about the state agencies. She has a state telephone
directory and can probably find the agency's name and number in that.

Tell them that I said to call. And, if for some reason this all falls
through-please contact me and I'll do my best to track down the numbers from
here (TX :) )

Good luck!!!
