I do not perceive any 'bashing Brits" in the messages of this thread. The
thread started with a query about getting a job in the UK and continued with
reasoned, well-supported messages pointing out that getting such a job might
not be easy, but just might be possible by the slimmest of margins if the
job seeker is willing to work through some known obstacles. I've not read
any bitterness in the messages, only a quite refreshing realization that
getting a job is hard work, and it's even harder when you're outside the
country of choice.

degenerate into an "us/them" arguement)

Ah, so we're bashing Brits for not hiring Americans
(and the rest of the world).

Ahem (whispering here so as not to offend any). Have
we narcistic Americans looked at our own immigration
policies? When was the last time you talked to
someone who tried to get a work visa for the USA?
First, talk to someone from Europe or Asia. Ask them
how hard it is. Then ask someone from Africa, the
Carribean, or Central America.

It will really open your eyes if you haven't already
had this conversation. How many of us can argue we're
uniquely qualified to do our jobs?
