Subject: Re: Young Friends Conference

The Next Generation
The Vauxhall Young Friends Conference in association with Public View
and British Association of Friends of Museums (BAFM)
Friday 20 November 1998 at the Benjamin Franklin Room, RSA, London, UK

I recently heard about this conference but please contact the organisers
for further details:
'Young people play a vital part in the life of museums and galleries but
far too often our young guests are not catered for. The aim of The Next
Generation - Vauxhall Young Friends Conference is to facilitate the
founding of young friends groups in museums and galleries throughout the
country [UK] in a bid to increase the enjoyment and education young
people receive from their associations with museums and galleries. We
will draw upon the experiences of those institutions that have
established activities for young visitors with speakers who are experts
in the field.

Speakers include: Sarah Carthew, Head of the British Museum Society,
reponsible for establishing the Young Friends of the British Museum; Jo
Graham, the Science Museum's Audience Advocate (The early years); Juliet
Mather, The British Council for Archaeology, who has direct involvement
in running schemes to encourage young people to be aware of their
heritage; .. And to be confirmed .. a leading expert in marketing and
well known personality!

The day will include: attendance to all speeches; attendance to
workshops; lunch; refreshments; an information pack about establishing
young Friends groups.

The conference will begin at 11 am. Full time table sent with
confirmation of booking.

Cost 20 UK pounds. Cheques payable to Public View Trading Ltd.

Contact: Helen Marriot, Conference Bookings, Public View, PO Box 2646,
London W1 3RD, UK.

(Bookings by 2 November)
