EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Rockwell Museum of Western Art
Corning, New York

The Rockwell Museum of Western Art seeks an experienced professional
with vision, leadership and strong management skills to lead the museum
to a new level of local and national importance, and to broaden its base
of support. Founded in 1976 and located in the beautiful Finger Lakes
Region of upstate New York, the Museum houses the finest collection of
Western Art east of the Mississippi River and contains masterworks by
Remington, Russell, Bierstadt, Moran, Catlin, and many others. Recent
works by Native American and other emerging Western artists are being
collected to bring perspective and breadth to the collection.

The Executive Director reports to the Board of Trustees, administers a
$2.2 million budget, and oversees 12 full-time staff, docents and
volunteers. This position requires an individual who is experienced and
effective in attracting significant funding, and in developing strong
relationships with a wide range of audiences and constituents. The
Executive Director further develops policies relating to collections,
exhibitions, educational programming, audience development and overall
museum operations. The ideal candidate will have outstanding management
and supervisory skills and be able to motivate staff in a collaborative,
team-oriented environment. Knowledge and appreciation of Western Art,
American Art and Native American Cultures desired. Minimum 5 years
experience in a museum leadership role and an advanced degree is
required. Salary is competitive with excellent benefits.
