The University Museum announces the Charles Thomas Pearson Internship
for graduate students in museum studies.  Charles Thomas and Mary
Alice Pearson Education, Inc. sponsors this award.  The Pearson
Intern will work in the museum's Discovery Room which features hands-
on experiences for children in grades K-5. The term of the internship
will allow the recipient to experience the practical problems of
behind the scenes preparation and actual opening of this facility.

Responsibilities:  The intern will coordinate volunteers, assist with
    day to day operations, and develop programs for the discovery room
    under the direction of the Discovery Room Coordinator.  Some
    weekend work time will be required.
Scope:  In addition to work in the Discovery Room, the intern will
    become acquainted with other musuem operations including
    education, exhibits, fund-raising, collections management, and
    administration.
Eligibility:  Students must be enrolled in, or completed course work
    for, the Master of Arts program with a specialization in museum
    studies at the University of Arkansas, or at another educational
    institution.  Preference will be given to upper level candidates.
Duration and stipend:  The nine-month full-time internship will run
    from 1 September 1996 to 31 May 1997.  The stipend will be $9,500.
Application Requirements:   Each candidate, in keeping with The
    Charles Thomas and Mary Alice Pearson Educational Foundation's
    interest in community ethics, will submit a four to five page
    double-spaced essay on some aspect of ethics in the musuem field.
    In addition, each candidate will submit a cover letter, resume
    including relevant course work and job experiences, and three
    letters of recommendation.  Please send these materials by April
