Position Description:

The Hampton Roads Naval Museum Summer Education Internship is a full-time, twelve-week, paid internship. Working with curators, educators and editors on all summer programs. The intern's tasks may range from research, and writing, to implementing daily public programs and educational tours. Interns will assist with development and implementation of teacher workshops, and underwater archeology summer camp. Will require excellent people and presentation skills, and the ability to multi-task. Knowledge of American and Military history preferred. Must be able to lift 50 lbs, maneuver aboard and climb steep ladder wells on board WWII era Battleship, USS WISCONSIN, owned and operated by the U.S. Navy.

Length: 12 weeks
Required commitment: 32 hours per week
Stipend: $10.00 per hour
Eligibility: Students must be undergraduates with at least incoming junior standing (or have recently graduated) or be currently registered graduate students (or have recently completed coursework). Please note that junior standing is roughly equivalent to having completed at least one-half of an undergraduate degree.

2007 Deadline: Applications must be postmarked by April 16, 2007
Notification: Postmarked by May 4, 2007 Dates of internship: June 4- August 24, 2007
