The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art has a position of Assistant Preparator of
Installation available.  Duties include assisting with transportation,
installation and deinstallation of all artwork for loan and permanent
exhibitions both inside the museum and on the museum grounds and maintenance
of exhibition spaces, preparation areas and storage spaces.  Will be
required to dust, clean glass, change lights and assist with pest management
program.

Prefer a bachelor's degree in fine arts, art history or related field.  A
minimum of one year's experience as a preparator in a museum, gallery, or
commercial fine art service company is required.  Must be able to make an
easy transition from working with delicate objects to monumental sculpture
to truck loading/unloading, take part in some strenuous lifting and moving
activities, have some technical and carpentry skills, have good mental and
physical dexterity, work closely and flexibly with various departments
within the Museum as well as numerous vendors, have good communication and
organizational skills, juggle multiple priorities and competing projects to
meet established deadlines, and be safety conscious.
