Sorry, can't resist--
  There's a story in my mother's family about her grandmother, who at the
age of sixteen was finally allowed to go to a formal dance. She was so
anxious to look her best that she cinched her corset as tightly as she
could. Dressed and ready to go, she fainted while walking down the
stairs and apparently rolled all the way down to the bottom. She wasn't
seriously hurt, but her parents thought she was too bruised and upset to
go out, so she wasn't allowed to go to the dance.
